First and foremost, we're about Jesus. Continued intimacy with God the Father, Holy Spirit, and the Son informs and shapes mission.
"Empathy, stewardship, foresight, awareness, healing, commitment and development of people, and building community" - Larry Spears - Principles of Servant Leadership
Jesus perfectly modeled the character and nature of servant leadership. Our mission is engaged in placing value in what Jesus placed value - intimacy with the Father, and a servant's heart.
Who do we serve?
"When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, otherwise they may also invite you in return and that will be your repayment. But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you" - Luke 14:12-14
How do we serve?
While Boomer served as a youth director, he would help to organize a summer youth conference, organizing an upwards of 40 different community projects each year. Each project consisted of assisting folks with simple needs. Many of the individuals were elderly, disabled, or financially burdened. They live next door to all of us. Much of our servant work is simple and takes a little sweat, muscle, and a couple of hours— a simple proclamation of God's love.
Who serves?
We are capable and qualified to serve our neighbors— God will lead the way. For some a donation of time, for others, finances or a little sweat and muscle.
Put first things first and we get second things thrown in: put second things first & we lose both first and second things." - C.S. Lewis
Matthew 6:33
"There are two things I want to model well for my kids— intimacy with God, and humility through serving others" - Boomer
A great plague to our society today is "busyness" - When we serve GOD best, we're energized, engaged, equipped, and well aware of our need to rest in His presence - A great pastor once said:
"Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is take a nap."
GOD is the source of all blessings. We serve Him with our time, talents, and possessions. All that we have is entrusted to us by God, and we contribute of our means cheerfully and systematically.
Relationships are the currency of the Kingdom. Our relationship with GOD naturally propels us into relationship with others. Love God. Love People.

The biggest surprise to me from COVID was that I didn't miss going to church.
Such a fascinating piece of Scripture that shows us exactly what should be going on within our homes.

Exploring our "Jesus peace"
Transforming into the Character of Jesus means we are more thankful - Refuse to believe 2020 is a dumpster fire and see the great things God is doing in your life -
Jesus is the man - He walks out the perfect picture of leadership and authority while never neglecting humility and a reliance on the Father.

Pandemic or no-pandemic - church in a building or church at home - history emphasizes the importance of an intentionality in fostering spiritual health in our own households.

I pray that more and more we develop spiritual habits within our own homes. Open up the Bible with your families and those close to you. Discover the resurrection story together, imagine what it may have looked like, and ask each other questions.
